The Research and Development Center (the R&D center) operates from the heart of the Western Negev, the largest agricultural region in Israel, with the support of the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, and under the academic sponsorship of Ben-Gurion University.
The R&D center works for the promotion of agriculture, the community, and applied research in the Western Negev and the surrounding area. The team of scientists at the institute research and develop solutions in a variety of fields, working intensivly on the agricultural technologies of the future.
The R&D center operates in various research AREA in the fields of agriculture and environment, with the aim of producing innovative solutions and promoting sustainable, safe and environmentally friendly agriculture.
Community involvement is one of the pillars of the The R&D center. The community is the core for new ideas on the one hand, and is the target audience for learning and imparting professional knowledge. The Gaza Research and Development center holds seminars, a professional course center, and provides agricultural training services to the residents of the area, with the aim of promoting and strengthening the community.
The R&D center (Gaza Surrounding R&D) is a regional applied research body operating from the heart of the Western Negev, the largest agricultural region in Israel, under the auspices of Ben Gurion University.
The center was established in 1984 by the Ministry of Science with the aim of promoting agriculture in Gush Katif, currently located in the territory of the Sdot Negev Regional Council. The center employs researchers and agronomists, and works for the advancement of agriculture, the community, and applied research in the Western Negev and the surrounding area. The team of scientists at the institute research and develop applied solutions in a variety of fields, and work hard on the agricultural technologies of the future.
As of 2020, the center began the process of organizational change and since then has been in the process of growth, increasing activity and accepting new researchers.

An analytical laboratory certified by the ISO/IEC 17025 standard from 2002, which specializes in identifying pesticide residues in agricultural produce, and provides testing services and development of analytical methods to farmers and various companies in Israel.
